Symposia

Recycling and Industrial Technology of Rare Metals

Focus of this symposium is recycling and industrial technology of rare metals(critical materials). Known as the “Vitamins of modern industry”, rare metals including rare earth metals are increasingly becoming more critical resource since global demand for advanced and compact electronic instruments, defense equipment, magnets, and pollution control catalysts are increasing. Since the rarity is not only determined by its existence in nature, but also the balance between demand and supply; recycling technology, smelting/refining technology, consumption reduction technology and processing technology related to rare metals are continuously becoming important issues. The symposium will commence with overviews of recycling technologies and industrial technologies related to various rare metals

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to)
  • Rare metals strategies and industry
  • Rare earth elements
  • Exploration and mining
  • Extraction, refining and materialization technologies
  • Recycling and substitution technology
  • Structural, optical, photonic, electronic, magnetic and energy application.
Invited speakers (tentative) include
